With fall comes not only sweater weather, but a plethora of new TV shows to obsess over. And one show in particular already generating rave reviews is NBC’s new drama Blacklist.
With USA TODAY dubbing the show “TV’s best new drama” we had to wonder what made star James Spader want to sign on for the show?
James, who plays Red, a criminal mastermind who surrenders himself to the FBI to help catch crooks, shared that the reason he took on the role was the mystery behind his character.
“He amused me,” Spader tells Huffington Post. “He has such a strange and enigmatic life, and I liked the fact that the show could surprise you and be sort of thrilling, and yet, at the same time, have a sense of humor and irreverence … Sometimes good people do terribly bad things. And sometimes bad people do terribly good things. And he’s both of those. He’s both of those at different times.”
Catch James in the premiere of Blacklist on Monday at 10/9c on NBC.
