Woman in OC Drives Camry on Neighbors' Lawns

COSTA MESA (CNS) - A Costa Mesa woman was arrested today on suspicion of reckless driving and endangering pedestrians with her car this morning, the  second such reckless driving arrest for her in two weeks.

Police were sent to the 1600 block of Labrador Drive just before 8 a.m. because a woman was driving her silver Toyota Camry on neighbors' lawns and  doing circles in the middle of the street, said Lt. Greg Scott of the Costa Mesa Police Department.

Sandra Marie Montag, 48, had had a dispute with her husband at a nearby residence earlier, Scott said.

Montag nearly struck a man walking his dog on the sidewalk and endangered others, including children walking and bicycling to school, Scott said.

Montag drove back to her home and her husband got in the car and the car took off at a high rate of speed on Labrador Drive, Scott said.

Police looked for the Camry and sent out a radio broadcast to other police agencies. They staked out the Labrador Drive area and shortly after 10:30 a.m., arrested Montag without incident, Scott said.

Montag had been involved in a domestic violence incident involving her using her Camry and trying to assault her husband with it, Scott said.

Montag was freed from custody on bail pending a court appearance on the earlier charged when booked, Scott said.

Montag was booked and held in lieu of $50,000 bail, Scott said.
