Man Who Shot Caltech Worker Gets 25 Years To Life

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — A man who shot and killed a Caltech employee on campus in 1995 has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

Fifty-seven-year-old Raul Romero was sentenced Thursday. He also was told to pay $9,000 to the victim's family for funeral expenses.

Prosecutors say Romero gunned down Javier Mora in April 1995 as the custodian had lunch with co-workers at the Pasadena school.

A witness testified that Romero was angry over Mora's relationship with his estranged wife.

Romero fled after the killing. Authorities say he was working as a police officer in Mexico when he was arrested in 2010. He was extradited and was convicted last year of second-degree murde
